The new look

The same glass as macOS itself: the island flows out of the notch and takes on the colors of your wallpaper. Give it a week, and you'll forget Apple didn't put it there.

Dark glass needs macOS 26 or later. On earlier versions, the island is black to match the notch.

Features

Choose what goes up top.

Turn on only what you use; everything else stays out of sight. All of it works out of the box.

Under the hood

  1. Light.
    Easy on your Mac

A native Swift app, no Electron, no browser engine inside. In full-screen apps it can get out of the way entirely.

  2. Flexible.
    Yours to arrange

Turn each widget on or off and drag it between tabs and columns. SparkU suggests the first layout itself.

  3. Extensible.
    An open API

Any app or script can put its own status line, indicator or widget in the notch. Your CI build, an order, your home server.

Six quick questions, two minutes.

Common questions

Do I need a MacBook with a notch?

No. On a Mac without a notch, the island sits at the top edge of the screen and works the same way. With your MacBook closed and connected to a display, it moves to the top of that display.

When does it come out?

Spring 2027. The beta is rolling out in waves right now.

What do I get in the beta?

Early access and a say in which integrations come next.

How much will it cost?

A one-time purchase, no subscription. We'll announce the price closer to launch.

What languages does it support?

English and Russian — it follows your macOS language.

Will it slow down my Mac?

SparkU is a native Swift app — no Electron, no browser engine inside. The live equalizer only runs while music is playing; the rest of the time, no audio is processed.

Does it work with my agent?

Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Antigravity and Hermes. Need another one? Mention it in the beta form.

What about full-screen apps?

Your call: the island can hide to stay out of the way, or stay on top — handy for keeping an eye on Discord mid-game.

Does it only open on hover?

Hover or click — whichever you prefer. It's a single setting.

What about privacy?

No account, no telemetry. Audio Recording is only for the live equalizer — it's how macOS lets apps hear system audio — and SparkU records nothing. Everything else (Accessibility for Discord's buttons, Calendar, Camera, Bluetooth, Automation for iTerm2) it asks for only when you turn on a widget that needs it. It goes online to check your license and updates, and when you translate text or convert currency.
